Let's be honest - this will probably be Roya writing on here most of the time - I'll see if I can ever convince Adam to do so, but I just type faster. ;) So if I say "I" - assume it's Roya unless otherwise stated!

To start things off with - let me tell you the story of how Adam proposed...

My 25th birthday was on November 28th - he had told me he had a surprise for me, and that I should wear the fanciest thing I own (or buy something new). I bought a red slinky dress, wore silver strappy shoes, and was ready a good hour and a half before our departure time of 6pm. I had no idea where he was taking me - except that dinner was involved.

We drove to Pasadena, and I was led into The Dining Room of the Langham Huntington Hotel. We were served by an excellent staff, and indulged in the Chef's Tasting Menu. We had 7 courses and 2 bread courses that were all paired with wine (or an ale, in one case). When Adam went to the bathroom, I chatted with the server, telling him how much I loved the show Top Chef, and how I'd been interested in fine dining and how kitchens are run and plating, etc...he said "oh, I've never seen that show."

After the last course, he came to our table and asked if I'd like to see the kitchen. I thought he was just being nice. But I walked back there with Adam, and there was Michael Voltaggio - one of the TOP Top Chef's from THIS SEASON. We shook hands, he gave me a squid feather (we had squid soup for our amuse bouche), and I left the kitchen babbling and nearly incoherant.

They set up dessert for us at a private table on a balcony patio overlooking the Japanese gardens. There was a heater, a cashmere scarf for me, and it was overwhelmingly beautiful. I was in tears, I couldn't believe Adam had put all this work into my birthday dinner, and I told him so.

That was when he got down on one knee and pulled out the tiny little velvet box.

Ladies and gentlemen - I am sorry to inform you that Adam is taken, because no one on earth can ever hope for a more wonderful man, a more meaningful proposal - or a better birthday.
