Bridesmaids
Co-Maid of Honor - Roxana Sorooshian
Roxana is Roya's younger sister by 3 years. There was never a question in the world that she would be one of Roya's bridesmaids. She is not only related to her, but also incredibly intelligent, witty, and hugely talented in the world of musical theater. She goes to UCI and is double majoring in musical theater and history. She loves french a little too well, and has read everything. I mean it, everything. Quiz her.
Co-Maid of Honor - Rose Sorooshian
Rose is Roya's youngest sister by 6 years. Roya decided to avoid maid-of-honor-decision conflict by having both sisters named as such. (Hey, this way Roya gets twice as much attention...right?) Rosie is terrifically supportive, warm, and a great teacher, especially at the karate studio where she's worked for years. She is majoring in American Sign Language, at Cypress College right now and plans to go to CSU Northridge to for her BA. She's an avid soccer player and coach, and participates in script frenzy every year!
Rebecca Jekerle
Becky is Roya's cousin on her mother's side, and they have shared ohhh so much. They worked together at Young Adventurers Day Care for years, although Roya is pretty sure Becky can outdo her in little-kids-are-gross stories. Becky has been unfailingly enthusiastic and helpful with the planning details of not only the wedding, but of Roya's life in general. Becky is currently working on her masters in communicative disorders at Chapman University.
Jaime Dedeaux
Jaime is Roya's NEW sister! Jaime is Adam's little sister, and since moving to their area a few years ago has been an increasingly important person in Roya's life. She hogs the fruit-marshmallow salad at Thanksgiving, but other than that, Jaime is exactly the kind of sparkly, excited, loyal sister-in-law that Roya could ask for. Jaime is currently working towards her AA at Goldenwest College, with the plan to major in business.
Marina Shuman
Marina is Roya's best friend of 12 years. All of Roya's most embarrassing and most wonderful moments have happened with her Marinara Sauce. Roya was recently Marina's maid of honor at her Jewish-Hippie Portland wedding, and Marina now gets to turn around and become the best, most unflinching wedding-sounding-board that there ever was. Not only that, but Roya and Marina can harmonize at least 2 whole songs together, so there. Marina has a degree involving psychology and theater from Prescott University, and is currently receiving acceptance letters from a variety of graduate programs!
Groomsmen
Best Man - Chris Mankins
Chris is currently Adam and Roya's roommate, and has lived next door or with Adam since they were about 12 years old. They've even lived in another state together. Chris has been an older brother and perfect roommate - he plays with the dogs, watches bad tv with Roya, and plays computer games with Adam. He's got a room in every home they ever have.
David Mankins
David is Chris' brother, and another one of Adam's best friends. David has always been a part of Adam's life, from friend to neighbor to roommate. David is an unswervingly loyal friend to Adam, and even shares his new CD's with Roya.
Steve Grande
Grande met Adam while they were both working at Chili's Bar and Grill in Huntington Beach, they both moved on to bartend at Chimayo's, and were roommates for years. Steve has been a talented member of several bands, and is helping run the sound for the wedding. His real claim to fame, however, is orchestrating their fantasy football league every year.
Stuart Gruber
Stuart was there from the very beginning of Roya and Adam, from orientation at CSULB to graduation. Roya met Stuart because he was the tallest person at orientation and she followed him so she didn't get lost. From that point on, Stuart had most of the same classes as Adam and Roya, and was in every single group project they ever worked on. Stuart is their camping-buddy, and knows all the best fishing spots. He is the founder of Adventures2Grow, an organization that helps kids expand their experiences in the outdoors.
Marco Poon
Marco and Adam met at Chilis, where Marco was manager for many many years. Marco Poon is pretty much the nicest guy in the world, which is why he now owns a pink sweater knitted by Roya. Marco is the leader of much of the fun to be had - from bringing his famous bean bag game to super bowl parties, to arranging trips to mammoth, to organizing the 1st annual disc golf road trip.
