The thought behind the ceremony

Picture
When thinking about our wedding, both of us wanted to make sure that the thought of our marriage did not get overshadowed. We realized that the reason why we weren't going to a courthouse to get married is because we want to be able to really share this with our family and closest friends. With that in mind, we realized that we didn't want to spend time, energy, or money stressing about location, the perfect this, the perfect that. Our wedding ceremony would be made perfect by the loving support of our family around us. The two of us come from different backgrounds which share very similar morals and values. We wanted to celebrate bringing those together. We wanted a beautiful, sacred space to share our vows and this covenant.

So we decided to have the reception and ceremony in our backyard! Roya's parents got married in her mother's backyard, and had, in Roya's opinion, the most beautiful wedding due to it's simplicity (not that Roya was there, but she's seen pictures). She wanted to carry on this tradition of heartfelt, family-centered simplicity. She wanted it to feel like home, not like she was renting some space she would never see again.

The Logistics of the Ceremony

The ceremony will be  at Adam and Roya's house at 11191 Essex Drive, Los Alamitos, CA 90720.
The ceremony will begin at
5pm on Saturday,  August 7th, 2010. Following the ceremony, we will be having the reception right there in the backyard! The reception will have a paella dinner, cake cutting, bouquet tossing, and all of those good wedding-y things. We would like for the party to go on as long as there is a party - and our plan is for the night to evolve into a sitting-around-the-campfire-singing-songs kind of an evening, so PLEASE BRING YOUR INSTRUMENTS!

Parking: Please be courteous of our neighbors and avoid driveways, as it is all street parking throughout the neighborhood.
Dress is summer-dressy, whatever makes you feel celebratory, and shoes that are comfortable enough for dancing.
