CSULB and beyond...

Adam and Roya met during the first week of classes at California State University, Long Beach. In fact, they are reasonably certain that it was in Rec. 225 - with Jan Hedges as the instructor. They were playing a "hip pocket" (all rec majors are laughing right now) which is a requisite part of all recreation classes - and mingling around talking to the class. Adam came up to Roya and said "I swear, this is not a pick up line, but you look really familiar." They then spent 15 minutes trying to figure out where they knew each other from. Adam says still that this was not a pick up line. Roya maybe believes him.

It could have been the next day, or the day after that, but Roya and her friend Stuart were sitting in front of the smoothie place at the student union on campus, when Adam walked up. He sat down, they talked, and from that moment on, they were always in the same group projects. They spent the next 2 years telling people they were NOT in a relationship. They were, apparently, very much in denial.

Roya spent the greater part of a month in Utah on a Wilderness Water Expedition, and it was the first time since they'd met that they hadn't spent pretty much every day together. Apparently that was all it took for Adam to realize it was time! They officially "got together" in October of 2006.

Since then, they graduated CSULB in the summer of 2007,  worked as Assitant Back Country Rangers in Willow, Alaska for a summer, got a 2nd German shepherd (Juno) to go with the first (Rommel), gone fishing and camping mannnnny times, seen Adam through police academy and into his new job as a Park Ranger for the City of Los Angeles, and Roya into her job as Access to Adventure Coordinator, where she gets to travel and work in human services.
